    The Pigeon River
Written by William Dodd, DBO Staff

    Description:

This is a dam released river that runs four days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday). It is approximately a four mile paddle. The river has a good mix of class 3 whitewater. It does offer a few good play spots as well.

    Put-In:

Take I-40 to the Tennessee and North Carolina borders. To get to the put-in, you will take the Waterville Rd exit. This is the exit right at the border of the two states. You will follow this road all the way to the power plant. You put-in right below the power plant.

    Take-Out:

You go west on I-40 to the next exit (Hartford Exit). You can just park in a big gravel lot right at all of the rafting outposts. It is right between the interstate and the river.
