WHITEWATER SAFETY, STROKES, AND CONCEPTS
In this course students will learn how to properly fit their kayak and gear, safe entry and exit, and a selection of strokes and drills. Each student’s first session will be held on a calm body of water with a student/instructor ratio of no greater than 4 to 1. Emphasis will be placed on developing solid boat control and proper self-rescue techniques in preparation for a whitewater setting.
INTRODUCTION TO RECREATIONAL PADDLING
Those who enjoy paddling on calm bodies of water at a relaxed pace can also benefit from a little input from a more experienced paddler. This clinic will be an all-encompassing, on-the-water introduction to the basics of fitting gear, effective launching strategies, risk evaluation, and self-rescue. Throughout the clinic the participants will learn how to use their bodies and boats in ways that will minimize risk of injury.
